HMT invests in emission testing lab

Bangalore, April 5

HMT Ltd has set up a high-tech Engine Emission Testing Laboratory in R&D centre at its Tractor Division, Pinjore with an investment of Rs 5 crore. The laboratory is the first of its kind in the northern region.

This will help in the development of the company's tractor engines for better performance as well as compliances to current TREM-III and take care of TREM-IV (emission norms of equivalent to Bharat III &IV) norms that are likely to be implemented by the tractor industry in 2008, said a company release.

The laboratory is equipped with exhaust gas analyser for measurement of pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen and carbon dioxide, particular measurement instruments for particulates, smoke meter for visible smoke, fuel consumption meter, engine testing dynameter and conditioned air supply system. The test equipments have been sourced from AVL, Austria.
