Tehri plant's generation target

State-owned Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC) on Tuesday said it planned to generate 1.16 billion units of electricity after commissioning the 1,000-MW Tehri Stage-I power plant in 2006-07. This generation target is part of the MoU signed by the company with the Power Ministry. This is the first time that the company has signed an MoU, a THDC release said. As per the MoU, THDC would also start work on the 1,000-MW Tehri Pumped Storage Project, 2,400-MW Tehri Power Complex and 444-MW Vishnugad Project during this financial year. The company plans to contribute 1,840 MW in hydropower sector in the Eleventh Plan (2007-12), it said.
