Bajaj Auto's vehicle sales up 25 pc

Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) today reported a 25 per cent rise in total sale of two and three-wheelers for 2005-2006, to 22,79,862 units from 18,26,798 units in the previous corresponding period. For the fiscal year 2007, the company is targeting total sales of 2.85 million units — 2.55 million two-wheelers and 0.3 million three-wheelers — including exports of 3,65,000 units. According to an official statement, in the fiscal year 2006 two-wheeler sales were up 26 per cent to 20,27,856 units (16,04,745 units for the year ago period), including a 32 per cent growth in motorcycle sales to 19,12,224 units (14,49,710 units). Sale of three-wheelers was higher by 13 per cent at 2,52,006 units (2,22,053 units). Vehicle exports for the period gained by 27 per cent to 2,50,168 units (1,96,710 units). The company's total sale of two and three-wheelers in just ended March was up 30 per cent at 2,12,419 units (1,63,683 units). Sale of two-wheelers increased by 30 per cent to 1,87,696 units (1,44,861 units), including a 37 per cent gain in motorcycle sales to 1,83,927 units (1,34,707 units). Sale of three-wheelers moved up by 31 per cent to 24,723 units (18,822 units). For the fiscal year 2006's fourth quarter, BAL's total sale of two and three-wheelers was up 29 per cent at 6,21,972 units (4,80,521 units). — Our Bureau
