NHPC aims for 22 pc growth in sales

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has set a target of 22 per cent year-on-year increase in sales to Rs 2,118 crore in 2006-07. In a memorandum of understanding signed with the Power Ministry, the company has set a goal of generating 13,860 million units of electricity during the year. The target for capacity index has been raised to 96.5 per cent.
For the first time, milestone related to Enterprise Resource Planning being implemented in NHPC has been included in MoU, a release issued by the company said. NHPC has been signing performance MoU with the Government every year since 1991-92 and it has been awarded Excellent Rating for the last 10 years in a row, the release said.
The company also announced that it has excavated one of the longest inclined pressure shafts in the world in a steep slope for its 800 MW Prabati Hydroelectric Project Stage II in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. "NHPC has achieved this feat in the minimum possible time through meticulous planning, and deployment of new technologies and machineries," the company said.
