Free Java-based games on mobiles

Our Bureau

Bangalore, March 29

Java-based games and applications can now be downloaded onto the mobile from mobile.java.com for free. The Web site was launched on Wednesday by Sun Microsystems Inc, and is dedicated to over three billion Java-powered mobile devices users. Some games and applications can be downloaded from the Web site directly onto the mobile, while others can be downloaded via cellular network. Besides this, Java developers can also sell and deliver their games, ringtones, videos and other applications directly to mobile phone users worldwide on any network and use Bango, the mobile content enabler, to bill consumers anywhere in the world for their content. "Two of the most important constituents of the Java community are mobile users and developers, both of whom, are present in abundance in India. mobile.java.com will serve as an address where both these communities can experience the virtues of the technology, and truly participate in this worldwide phenomenon called Java," said Mr K.P. Unnikrishnan Marketing Director, Sun Microsystems India Pvt Ltd, in a release issued by the company.
