Judicial probe ordered into land allotments in twin cities

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has ordered a judicial enquiry into the exemptions and allotment of vacant land under the Urban Land Ceiling Act in and around the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The announcement of probe by a sitting high court judge came in the floor of the House after a discussion that took the entire duration of the question hour and spilled over, with the Opposition members raising irregularities. Earlier, during the discussion, the State Rural Development and Urban Land Ceiling Minister, Mr D. Srinivas, said the Government had issued a GO on issues relating to allotment of vacant lands under ULCA.
