The Hindu Business Line : MGL sponsors accident cover

Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) has sponsored a group personal accident cover for over 2.25 lakh drivers operating CNG- driven taxi and auto rickshaws within MGL's area of operation. The cover will be offered by ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company.

`Mahasuraksha Yojna'covers accidental death, loss of limbs, loss of eyes, permanent total disablement and permanent partial disablement, while the CNG vehicle is in operation by the driver.

All authorised taxis and autorickshaw drivers fitted with approved CNG kit, along with a valid drivers license and driver badge issued by Road Transport office (RTO) will get a maximum compensation of Rs 1 lakh per person as per the policy terms and conditions.

In a press release, Mr A.K. Purwaha, Managing Director, Mahanagar Gas Ltd, said: "In all, Mahasuraksha Yogna will benefit 10,00,000 persons (drivers and their families). Personal accident insurance cover is a significant value add in promoting use of cleaner fuel as also securing the future of CNG-powered vehicle drivers and their families."
