Tea Mixed trend at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi , March 19 A mixed trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Though the dust sale witnessed a good general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the quantity of 9,60,000 kg on offer in the dust varieties, market for CTC's were generally irregular and easier by Rs 2-3. However, CTC's witnessed better enquiry from some exporters. Orthodox market was lower by Rs 3-4. As per the figures made available with Forbes, Ewart and Figgis Pvt Ltd, the best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 54-65, medium CTC realised Rs 47-52 and below medium were quoted Rs 40-45. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 90-110, while medium BOPD realised Rs 40-44. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 35. However, the leaf sale witnessed only a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 3,04,000 kg. Orthodox mediums bolder, brokens and fannings were about steady. Smaller brokens and whole leaf grades tended to ease. Highgrown orthodox were irregular and easier. CTC's lower by Rs 3-5. Exporters were selective on orthodox grades. CTC's witnessed some enquiry from exporters. The best Niligiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 58-73, medium orthodox realised Rs44-48. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 48-54, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs 42-45.
