There is a need for greater accountability in public sector undertakings and there should be greater control on fund use in PSUs, according to Mr Y. Manohar, General Manager (Human Resources Development), Visakhapatnam steel plant. He was speaking on Thursday at the valedictory function of the two-day seminar on "Corporate governance for global competency'' organised by the Gayatri Vidya Parishad, school of business management. He wanted the company laws and the SEBI guidelines to be framed in accordance with the above objective. Prof. J.V Prabhakara Rao, Principal of the College of Arts, Andhra University, said corporate governance had yielded good results in many countries and in many countries the misgivings over the economic reform process had been allayed. Prof. P. Soma Raju, Secretary, Gayatri Vidya Parishad, Mr E.A.S Sarma, former Union Energy Secretary, and Prof. P.V Sarma, Director of the School of Business Management, also spoke.
