TVS Motor Co hopes to increase its sales of premium range bikes with the launch of Apache. The product was launched in the city on Monday.
The 150-cc Apache is the newest product from TVS.
According to Mr Chandra Sekhar Wamorkar, General Manager (Sales), the product is targeted at 18-25 age group and is priced at around Rs 52,000.
TVS is hoping to sell 15,000 to 20,000 Apache bikes per month. At present, it has the Fiero in the same premium range. The company is selling 50 to 1,000 Fiero bikes every month.
According to Mr M.V. Krishna, Assistant General Manager (Sales), the company has no plans to discontinue the production of Fiero. "However, if the sales trickle down, then we might think over this proposition too," he said.
In 2004-05, TVS has sold 1.1 million two-wheelers. In the current financial year (2005-06), the company is hoping to sell more than 1.3 million two-wheelers.
