T.N. Padmanabhan passes away

Chennai, March 10

Mr T.N. Padmanabhan, former Managing Director of Sundaram Finance Ltd, passed away on Friday after a brief illness. He was 81 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

A post-graduate with a qualification in law, Mr Padmanabhan joined the Indian Revenue Service. Moving to the private sector general insurance before its nationalisation, he became the Custodian of United Fire and General Insurance after the government take over. Mr Padmanabhan joined Sundaram Finance in 1975 and was its Managing Director between 1977 and 1988. He was associated with many companies in the TVS group.
