16 cos call on IIMB for placements

Our Bureau

Bangalore , March 10

About 16 companies came calling at the IIM-Bangalore on Friday on the day zero of placements for the Class of 2006. According to sources at the institute, most of these were international recruiters from investment banking and consultancy areas. Placement cell officials and student media cell representatives, however, refused to divulge details of the placement process during the day. However, sources at the institute said that about 16 students have already got pre-placement offers based on their summer internship programme.

Two students are reported to have been offered a salary of $1,25,000 by a New York-based investment banking company, but have kept the offers on hold, they said. Salaries upwards of $1,00,000 at the IIMs started making news a couple of years ago.
