Hyderabad , March 8

Agilent Technologies Inc, the $5.1-billion measurement technology provider, has zeroed in on the country's growing life sciences and pharmaceuticals industry, with a range of test and measurements products and services.

The company has identified India as the fourth-largest market in the Asia- Pacific region that accounts for about one-third of Agilent revenues in the life sciences segment.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the Country Manager of Life Sciences and Chemical Analysis (LSCA), Agilent Technologies, Mr Sanjeev Dhar said the Indian pharmaceutical industry was going global and would be required to conform to many regulatory compliances.

It would need high-end test and measurement equipment that can meet stringent European Union and USFDA norms.

Meeting compliances

Apart from pharma and biotech companies, even contract manufacturing houses are required to meet regulatory compliances, which call for specialised equipment.

The food processing industry and contract research services are the other entrants in this field.

The Business Development Manager of Agilent Technologies, Mr Robert Solazzo, said, "Agilent has applied its expertise in engineering instrumentation that helps bring improvements in product quality and usability.

These offer exciting functionality that is useful to a whole new generation of scientists and technicians in the areas of proteomics and genomics."

The company launched its latest products that help in data analysis and identification of organic compounds and contaminants useful in environmental, forensics and pharmaceutical applications.
