Software States - Maharashtra Tech Mahindra, Intel (R) lab in Pune Our Bureau
Pune , March 8 Tech Mahindra, software exporter and solution providers to telecom companies worldwide, and Intel (R) have launched a `Next Generation Telecom Solutions Lab' here at the former's development centre. Talking to presspersons, Mr Vineet Nayyar, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Tech Mahindra, said the lab showcases its next generation telecom application proof-of-concepts, namely IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-based video on demand (VoD) with real time charging, IP conferencing, and universal personal number hosted on Intel Carrier Grade Servers. He said the lab initiative includes hardware. Intel Carrier Grade Servers, used to host Tech Mahindra's next-generation network applications, are based on Intel architecture and are designed specifically for deployment in central offices. They are NEBS-3 (Network Equipment Building Standards-3) and ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) compliant. Additional components: Along with Intel Carrier Grade Servers, the lab also uses Intel Net Structure (R) SS7 Boards and Intel Net Structure (R) Host Media Processing software, he said. Mr John McClure, General Manager, Sales & Marketing (South Asia), Intel, said the lab was the first of its kind in the country. This is a three-year partnership and the lab would basically develop, test, deploy and certify applications not only in the country but also across the globe.
