GAIL pays Rs 97-cr special interim

New Delhi , March 6

GAIL (India) Ltd presented a dividend of Rs 96.98 crore to the Petroleum Minister, Mr Murli Deora, on Monday. Mr Proshanto Banerjee, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL, presented the cheque.

The amount has been paid towards a special interim dividend at the rate of 20 per cent on the equity share capital of Rs 845.65 crore for the financial year 2005-06, a company statement said.

Mr M.S. Srinivasan, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and directors on the board of GAIL were present on the occasion.

Earlier, GAIL has paid an interim dividend at the rate of 60 per cent on the equity share capital of Rs 845.65 crore for 2005-06.

The Government holds 57.345 per cent of the equity share capital in GAIL. The company has since inception, paid dividend of over Rs 4,371 crore to its shareholders.
