Outlook Industry & Economy - Petroleum Mumbai High restoration by June Our Bureau
New Delhi , March 3 ONGC expects to restore 2.7-lakh barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil output from Mumbai High fields by June. Mr Subir Raha, Chairman and Managing Director, said, "We expect to restore the output to the level before the July fire, which destroyed a crucial facility on the field, by June." He said production from the Mumbai High fields would cross 3-lakh bpd by the end of 2006-07 fiscal. Mr Raha said the fire at one of the facilities in Mumbai High fields would pull down the company's annual output to 25.1 million tonnes from the targeted 26.5 mt. The Mumbai High output would be restored by June 30 with the revival of NA platform and installation of a floating production storage offloading. Revival of production has been started and a production level of 2.18-lakh bpd has been achieved, he said. Last July, a fire gutted a Mumbai High North platform, which dropped Mumbai High oil and gas output to 20 per cent. While gas supplies were restored to 7.5 million standard cubic meters per day within a week, oil supplies continued to suffer for a month before 70 per cent of the lost output was restored.
