Tata Indicom on Thursday joined BSNL, Reliance, Airtel and Hutch in announcing its national long distance Re 1-per-minute telephony offer.

The company's "Talk National Pay Local" offers a single tariff for calls across India at Re 1 per minute, and is available to its post-paid customers starting March 2, and to its prepaid customers before March 6, 2006.

Existing and new prepaid mobile customers (both Standard as well as Non-stop two-year customers) will have to buy a new recharge voucher of Rs 400 for this.

All local and national long distance calls from mobile numbers (barring on-Net calls to Tata Indicom mobiles) will be charged at Re 1 per minute. The on-Net calls to mobiles are as low as Rs 0.4/minute for postpaid and Rs 1 per 3 minutes for prepaid customers.
