Mauj Tele gets $ 10-m funding

Mumbai , Feb. 24

Westbridge Capital Partners, Intel Capital and Sequoia Capital have invested $ 10 million in wireless solutions provider Mauj Telecom, part of the People Group which also includes Shaadi.com and Fropper.com.

The capital will be used to grow the business organically and through acquisitions, Mr Anupam Mittal, CMD of People Group, said.

Mauj Telecom develops mobile value-added services; it focuses on mobile music, gaming, mobile commerce and mobile messaging. Mauj Telecom develops services on all leading platforms, including J2ME, Smartphone, BREW, Symbian, SS7 and I-Mode. WestBridge Capital Partners led the investment round. Mr Arun Gupta, CEO Mauj Telecom, added, "Mauj Telecom will use the capital to expand aggressively globally in the areas of mobile music and mobile gaming.'

Mr Sandeep Singhal, Managing Director, WestBridge Capital Partners, will join the board of Maul Telecom.
