Our Bureau

New Delhi , Feb. 18

THE Government has framed and implemented a Plan Scheme for technology upgradation, establishment and modernisation of food processing industries.

The rate of assistance is 25 per cent of the cost of plant and machinery and technical civil works subject to the maximum of Rs 50 lakh in general areas and 33.33 per cent of the project cost subject to the maximum of Rs 75 lakh in difficult areas.

The financial assistance of Rs 907.72 lakh was extended to Maharashtra followed by Uttar Pradesh Rs 570.17 lakh, Tamil Nadu Rs 498.25 lakh and Andhra Pradesh Rs 441.04 lakh during 2005-06. Orissa has got the lowest financial assistance of Rs 3.93 lakh followed by Chhattishgarh Rs 6.48 lakh.
