Avalon sets up new unit for cable harness products in Chennai

AVALON Technologies, the US-based Sienna Group Company that provides contract-manufacturing solutions, has set up a new manufacturing facility for cable harness products at MEPZ Special Economic Zone in Chennai.
The $1-million facility will help in increasing capacities and facilitate automation, according to a release. The company expects that revenue generated from this new facility will be $10 million.
It also plans to acquire an additional 30,000 sq ft area adjacent to the new facility to add to its existing 1,50,000 sq ft production facilities at MEPZ.
Currently, 300 people are employed under Avalon's cable operations and the company expects this number to double within a year. It also plans to establish a facility exclusively for training its employees and engineers for advanced cable harness operations.
Avalon achieved a turnover of Rs 100 crore for the year ended March 31, 2005, and expects to touch Rs 150 crore this year, said the release.
