Miditech to launch new reality show formats

Ajita Shashidhar

Mumbai , Feb. 14

MIDITECH, popular for its reality shows such as Indian Idol (Sony), is all set to launch its own indigenous formats of reality shows.

Mr Nikhil Alva, Chief Executive Officer, Miditech, told Business Line, "All these years we were trying to reproduce international formats, but now we are trying to develop our own individual formats. We have already pitched four-five formats with leading Indian broadcasters and should be announcing our plans by end of this month."

He specified that these formats wouldn't be the usual song and dance ones and would be completely new.

Mr Alva also said that the company is toying with the idea of entering into the broadcasting space this year. "Our business development team is looking at it, and it is too premature to talk about it."

The company is planning to scale up focus in the documentaries sphere. Mr Niret Alva, President, said that the company is not only looking at producing documentaries for a number of international channels, but would also be hiring international talent to work on these documentaries.

"We are doing a number of documentaries for National Geographic on mid-air collisions, cyclone and earthquake predictions."

The company is also working on a medical-based reality show for Sony, Extreme Makeover.
