Rajiv Yuvashakthi plan

HYDERABAD: Over 64,000 youth in the State were benefited so far under the Rajiv Yuvashakthi Programme. These beneficiaries were sanctioned Rs 374.71 crore for taking up 50,000 units.

The total target for the year 2005-06 was to offer financial assistance to one lakh youth to take up 60,000 units worth Rs 600 crore, according to Mr G.N. Rao, Commissioner of Youth Services (Govt of Andhra Pradesh).

At review meeting held here early this week, he said subsidy worth Rs 250 crore had been released to the projects sanctioned during the year.

Ms Chitra Ramachandran, Secretary (Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department), called for identifying need-based and demand-based economic activities to create an impact on the society. Some of the economic activity could be planned in association with municipalities and housing departments.
