Events Print expo to showcase latest tech developments Our Bureau
Chennai , Feb. 7 THE print industry in India is worth Rs 1,000 crore, according to Mr P. Chander, Managing Director, Artisan & Co, a printing and packaging company. He was speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday as part of the Madras Printers' and Lithographers' Association, which was announcing its second e-Age Print 2006, to be held between February 10 and 14 at the Chennai Trade Centre. The five-day exhibition will showcase the latest developments in printing technology from various companies. Some of the companies that will take part include HP, Adobe, Xerox, EFI, Mitsubishi, TechNova, Autoprint and Wellbound. In all, 95 companies will be involved, he said. Delegates from Germany and the US will give presentations as well. Speakers from companies such as HP, Adobe, Mitsubishi, EFI, and Technova will take part. Some of the technologies that will be exhibited at the event include HP's 7 Colour Digital Offset Indigo Press, Xerox's Digital Offset printer and TechNova's analog printer, one of the largest in the market. Mr Chander said the print industry was picking up, and that there has been a healthy trend in terms of students taking up courses in print technology. He said that in the 1990s, there were no takers for the course, but now there are about 40 students enrolled at the Institute of Print Technology, Chennai, and about 30 students doing a course at Anna University.
