VISAKHAPATNAM: As a part of Clean Development Mechanism, Coromandel Fertilisers Ltd here is in the process of commissioning another eco-friendly project, according to a press release issued by the company.

Presently, the factory is burning fuel oil to generate hot air for drying fertilisers. Instead, it is proposed to use surplus steam for the purpose. It reduces carbon dioxide emission.

Under the Clean Development Mechanism protocol, a stakeholders' meeting was held here on Friday by the company. Prof. V.S.R.K. Prasad of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Andhra University, presided over the meeting. The measures taken by the company were explained to the participants.
