TVS Motor records 25 pc growth in motorcycles sales

TVS Motor Company has reported a growth of 25 per cent in the number of motorcycles sold during January over the corresponding period in the previous year. The company sold 69,278 units in January compared with 55,639 units in the same month of 2005.

According to a press release, TVS Motor sold 1,12,909 units of all two-wheelers compared with 94,467 units in January 2005, a growth of 20 per cent.

Sales of TVS StaR City have crossed the 50,000-units-per-month mark. TVS Scooty recorded 17,957 units in January 2006 compared to 14,724 units in the same period last year, a growth of 22 per cent.

During the month, TVS Motor exported 6,374 units in January 2006, which represents a 147 per cent growth over January 2005.
