GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd, which has been restructured as a holding company for the power businesses of the Hyderabad-based GVK group, hopes to bid for operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts in projects abroad.

Mr Som Bhupal, Director, GVK Power, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the company would participate in the bid for an O&M contract for a 300-MW gas-based power project in Oman, which was due to open next month.

Another company, in which it hopes to increase its stake to 51 per cent, is putting up a 464-MW power plant, also in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Bhupal said GVK Power would also focus on urban infrastructure projects and was interested in participating in the bid for a monorail system for Chennai. The company is coming out with an IPO of 82.75 lakh equity shares of Rs 10 each in the price band of Rs 260-310. The issue opens on February 2 and closes on February 7.
