30 countries participating in defence expo

New Delhi , Jan 31

THE Defence Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, inaugurated the `Defexpo India - 2006' here today.

Thirty countries including the US, the UK Russia, Italy, Sweden, France, South Africa, South Korea, Ukraine, Germany, the Czech Republic, Israel, Poland, Austria, Canada, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Romania and Spain are participating in the exhibition.

The exhibition showcases the country's technological prowess in the field of land and naval systems, provide a platform to promote exportable products manufactured by the Indian defence industry and invite private sector involvement in defence production.

The exhibition also aims at inviting participation of international companies seeking to exhibit technologies and products, the release said.

Defexpo India - 2006 has seen the number of exhibitors going up from 350 in the year 2004 to over 410, a release stated.
