Seafood meet to showcase fishing industry's potential

THE biennial India International Seafood Show (IISS) is to be held in Kolkata during February 3-5. It is to be inaugurated by the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr E.V.K.S. Elangovan, at Hotel Oberoi Grand.

While a full-day business session will be held on February 4 at Hotel Oberoi Grand, the seafood show and exhibition is to be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. Renowned specialists in the fisheries field from India and abroad are expected to discuss seafood related topics of contemporary interest, and will make their presentation during the session, the Seafood Exporters' Association of India (SEAI) said.

The IISS 2006, the 15th in the series to be conducted in India, is being jointly organised by the Marine Products Export Development Authority and SEAI.

The main objective of IISS 2006 is to create a platform for exhibiting the capability of Indian fishing, processing and allied industries.
