NSDRC staff plea

Our Bureau

VISAKHAPATNAM: The employees' union of the National Ship Design Research Centre (NSDRC) here has appealed to the Union Government to give it (the institution) greater budgetary support and appoint a full-time director.

According to a press release issued by the INTUC-affiliated union here, Mr G. Sanjeeva Reddy, the president of the INTUC, had met the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, in New Delhi earlier this week and sought greater support for the NSDRC. Filling up of vacancies, including appointment of a full-time director, and regular funding of research were the demands of the union.

Mr M. Rajasekhar, local leader of the INTUC, also accompanied Mr Sanjeeva Reddy in the meeting with the Prime Minister.
