Rubber Rubber prices continue to scale new peaks Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Jan. 23 SPOT rubber opened on a firm note on Monday. Prices continued to move up as covering groups maintained the aggressive mood amidst narrow arrivals. Transactions were low in the absence of sellers even at the quoted rates. Sheet rubber closed at Rs 76.50 against Rs 76 and Rs 76.25 a kg, respectively, at Kottayam and Kochi on Saturday. According to a spokesperson, the trend of the day was mostly driven by short supply. NMCE February contract was traded at Rs 77.75 (Rs 78.29), March at Rs 79 (Rs 79.75), April at Rs 80.35 (Rs 81.13) and May at Rs 81.89 (Rs 82.59) per kg for RSS 4. The March delivery contract for RSS 4 was quoted at Rs 78 against Rs 77.01 a kg on MCX. The February futures for RSS 3 declined to 226.4 yen (Rs 87.12) from 228.2 yen a kg at TOCOM. At Bangkok spot, the grade moved up to Rs 85.71 from Rs 85.43 a kg on Friday. Physical prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 76.50 (Rs 76), RSS-5: Rs 74.75 (Rs 74), Ungraded: 73.50 (Rs 73), ISNR 20: Rs 74.25 (Rs 73.25) and Latex 60%: Rs 53 (Rs 53).
