Hyderabad , Jan. 22

THE Union Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, today inaugurated here the mobile automated teller machine of Andhra Bank.

Talking to newspersons, the Andhra Bank Chairman and Managing Director, Mr K. Ramakrishnan, said apart from expanding the reach of the bank, the mobile ATMs would also effectively function as a market point offering multiple services even in remote areas.

The services currently being offered by the mobile ATMs include cash withdrawal, funds transfer, cash against credit cards, mobile recharges, balance enquiry, mini-statement and utility payments. The mobile ATM also offers services to the ATM cardholders of SBI, Canara Bank, UTI Bank, IDBI and HDFC Bank.

According to Mr Ramakrishnan, the mobile ATM works on advanced CDMA technology and is designed with inbuilt security features. Computers and wireless connectivity in the mobile ATMs ensure that the records were updated immediately at these mobile locations.

"These mobile ATMs would be used to reach out to the rural areas, giving the farmers and people an opportunity to access the most modern banking services, virtually at their doorsteps," Mr Ramakrishnan said.
