Vimala Vasan

Abu Dhabi , Jan. 10

THE UAE-based ETA-led joint venture with Indian major Voltas and Hitachi has won Dh 1 billion contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire fighting works for the world's tallest tower - Emaar's Burj Dubai.

The challenges ahead of the joint venture will be to meet the highest quality standards required for such skyscrapers and to meet the scheduled completion date of December 2008, according to a statement issued by Emaar today.

ETA is executing this project with joint venture partners - Hitachi Plant Engineering and Construction Co, Ltd, Japan and Voltas Ltd of India.

The Burj Dubai is the `jewel' of the entire 500-acre Burj Dubai Development and will feature one of the world's first Armani hotels, luxury residential apartments, boutique offices and a host of world-class restaurants and leisure options. Currently growing at a rate of one floor per week, the Burj Dubai is located off Sheikh Zayed Road at the heart of the mixed use development which when completed will create an elegant new downtown for Dubai. The Burj Dubai development will also host The Dubai Mall - the largest mall in the world when completed, Burj Dubai Business Hub - commercial offices and a variety of living options varying from the traditional Arabic inspired Old Town to the ultra modern lofts.

ETA Group, an ISO 9001:2000 certified company, has also been associated with several premium projects such as Emirates Towers, Dubai International Airport, Deira City Centre, Dubai Convention Centre, Dubai Marina, the Gardens Jumeirah Island and Springs Villas among other landmark projects in the UAE and other Gulf Countries.
