GoM discusses FDI in single brand retail

New Delhi , Jan. 4

THE Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by the Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar, on Wednesday discussed the issue of allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) in single brand retail.

"We have discussions on the issue and several other issues but will not be able to disclose these recommendations to be sent to the Cabinet. We will be sending them in the next two to three days," Mr Pawar told newspersons after the meeting.

The Minister for Commerce and Industries, Mr Kamal Nath, said that, "overall rationalisation of the FDI policy was discussed. Many changes have happened in the last three to four years and there are some contradictions. They were discussed."

Mr Nath also added that the process of double permission, triple permission too was discussed.
