Performance Tata Motors sales up 11.4 pc in Dec Our Bureau
Mumbai , Jan 4 TATA Motors reported 11.4 per cent increase in the total number of vehicles sold in December 2005 at 35,598 units from the corresponding previous period's 31,951 units. This includes exports. Domestic sale of commercial vehicles was up 1.4 per cent to 18,730 units (18,467 units for the year-ago period), with M&HCV sales at 11,110 units and LCVs at 7,620 units. Sale of passenger vehicles rose 35.4 per cent to 13,037 units including a 40 per cent gain in the sale of Indica at 6,977 units, and a 29 per cent increase in numbers for the Indigo family at 2,753 units. The Sumo and the Safari sold 3,307 units, up 32 per cent, an official statement said. According to the company, its retail sales of around 24,000 units in December was the highest in any month. Exports for the month were, however, down 0.7 per cent at 3,831 units (3,857 units). Cumulative sales for the fiscal so far were up 9.7 per cent at 3,06,184 units, including sale of commercial vehicles at 1,43,459 units and passenger vehicles at 1,27,510 units, the latter up 2 per cent. Exports for the period were higher 82.4 per cent at 35,205 units, the statement said.
