Hyundai sales up 17.26 pc in 2005

HYUNDAI Motor India registered a combined sale of 2,52,851 vehicles in 2005, an increase of 17.26 per cent over the year 2004. In the domestic market it clocked a growth of 11.83 per cent with 1,56,291 units, while overseas sales grew by 27.2 per cent to 96,560 units.

The segment-wise cumulative sales in 2005 are as follows — A2 segment (comprising the Getz and Santro) 2,10,005 units, A3 segment (Accent) 38,575 units, A4 segment (Elantra) 2,331 units, A5 segment (Sonata) 806 units, and SUV segment (Tucson) 1,134 units.

According to a company statement, propelled by the strong performance in year 2005, Hyundai Motor India is on the threshold of reaching the milestone of rolling out its `One millionth' car soon.
