Software Mahindra-BT launches Kolkata operations Our Bureau
Kolkata , Dec. 27 MAHINDRA-BRITISH Telecom Ltd (MBT), which launched operations in Kolkata with the inauguration of a software development centre here on Tuesday, has unveiled plans to invest an additional Rs 75 crore in the city within the next two years. The company has already invested Rs 10 crore in its development centre here that, to begin with, will engage 400 professionals. Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, Mr Vineet Nayyar, CEO and Managing Director of MBT, said the development centre that was inaugurated on Tuesday was spread over a 32,000 sq.ft area. An additional facility for accommodating 2,000 people would be built over a five-acre plot. This would entail an investment of Rs 75 crore, which would be made over in the next two years. In the next stage of the project, a further investment of Rs 75 crore would be made, Mr C.P. Gurnani, President (International Operations) of MBT said. He said the proactive role of the State Government and the availability of talented manpower here had attracted MBT to Kolkata. Over time, the Kolkata development centre would engage about 3,000 professionals.
