CMRS clears opening of Line 3 of Delhi Metro

THE Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) has cleared the opening of Line 3 of Delhi Metro connecting Barakhamba Road to Dwarka, for public carriage for passengers.

"Line 3 between Barakhamba Road and Dwarka is almost 23 km in length with 22 stations, including the highest station at Rajouri Garden which is 22 m above the ground level," a DMRC release said here.

The CMRS has permitted a maximum permissible speed of up to 80 km per hour but has advised that the operating speed should generally be about 75 km per hour, it added.

Meanwhile, DMRC has appointed Mr Raj Kumar, a 1973 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers as its Director (Operations and Maintenance). "Mr Kumar has over 23 years of experience on Indian Railways apart from 7 years in the DMRC as the Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer wherein he played a major role in introduction of new technologies in signalling, train control, telecommunication and automatic fare collection system of Delhi Metro," the release added.
