NEW DELHI: Small-scale industries are on the move worldwide because of the inherent strength of the SSI sector in boosting all round growth of the national economy, said Mr Santosh Bagrodia, MP and Chairman, Department-related Paliamentary Standing Committee on Industry, while releasing the book `Small Scale Industries in India-Today and Tomorrow', authored by Prof MM Agarwal.

The book gives an analysis of strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of SSIs. It also suggests mechanisms to help inject efficiency into the overall working of the system and the road ahead for the small and medium enterprises. Prof Agarwal has suggested raising the foreign equity participation from 24 per cent to 49 per cent in SSIs. Prof Agarwal was elected as an independent member of the Rajya Sabha in 2000. He has also been member of Sub-Committee III for the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
