Chennai , Dec. 23

FORD India said it would increase prices across models from the middle of January 2006. This price hike has been necessitated by continuous increase in input costs and logistics, Mr Arvind Mathew, Managing Director and President, Ford India Pvt Ltd, said in a press release.

According to Mr V. Sivaramakrishnan, Vice President - Marketing, Sales and Service, the price increase will be in the range of 2 per cent to 2.5 per cent. This works out to an increase of Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,750, for the models.

However, Ford India will deliver cars at the existing prices for those booked before the actual date the revised prices come into effect, according to Mr Sivaramakrishnan.

He said the newly launched Fiesta had received 4,500 customer orders. The company hoped to deliver at least 2,000 of these cars in December itself.

Ford India's models consist of the entry-level mid-size sedan Ikon, the premium sedan Fiesta, the urban activity vehicle Fusion, the sports utility vehicle Endeavour, and the luxury sedan Mondeo.
