MEMBERS of Sahakara Bharati are all set to take charge as directors on the board of the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd for the next five years. Sahakara Bharati is a non-political cooperative forum.

A notification posted on the notice board of the Campco on Tuesday said that 16 members are in the fray for the elections of the 16-member board of directors of Campco.

Tuesday was the last day for withdrawing the candidature for the post of directors of Campco.

With only 16 members (all belonging to Sahakara Bharati) remaining in the fray, the announcement of the names of directors has remained as a formality.

However, an official announcement regarding the winners will be made at the general body meeting of Campco here on December 24.

Of the 16 members, the cooperative will have eight new members (four each from Karnataka and Kerala) in the next board.

Of the 35 valid nominations, 19 members withdrew their nominations before 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

The president and vice-president of Campco will be elected on December 24.

Sources in Campco told Business Line that Karnataka is likely to get the post of president and Kerala vice-president in the new board.

Campco has 92,090 members in Karnataka and Kerala.
