Retailing Corporate - Outlook Info-Tech - Internet People Interactive hopeful of Rs 100-cr growth by next year Our Bureau
Mumbai , Dec. 19 PEOPLE Interactive, which owns Web sites such as Shaadi.com, Mauj and Fropper, is expecting a Rs 100 crore growth by next year through its brick and mortar matrimonial bureaus, Shaadi Point. Mr Anupam Mittal, Managing Director and Chairman, People Group, told Business Line that the company is planning around 500 Shaadi Points in the next three years. The company currently has 75 such outlets in 60 cities. "Internet reaches just 30 million people, through Shaadi Points we are targeting the masses," said Mr Mittal. These matrimonial bureaus reportedly offer a variety of wedding related services such as matchmaking, wedding planning, astrology and so on. The company, said Mr Mittal, is also planning a national television campaign next year. "We are waiting to set up at least 100 outlets before going for a national campaign." The company is currently focusing on local, city-specific campaigns. Talking about plans to acquire new businesses, Mr Mittal said that the company would be acquiring new businesses related to the Internet, mobile and wedding industry, but he felt that it was too early to reveal details. The company launched an astrology portal earlier this year called Astrolife.Com. "The astrology market in India is quite fragmented, and through this site we hope to create an industry powerhouse as far as astrology is concerned."
