THE Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of India will set up a dedicated pavilion at the second edition of SteelFab, to be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from January 22-24.
"Engineering exports from India have been steadily growing and the performance has probably exceeded all expectations ever since the birth of the council," said Mr M. Ganesan, Regional Director, Southern region, EEPC, according to a statement from the Expo Centre, Sharjah.
"Apart from being one of the largest stakeholders in the total exports out of India, - the engineering exporters are the foremost net foreign exchange earner in the country. As the engineering sector is extremely diversified, the council has set up different product panels to ensure that all possible and potential Indian products reach out to the global markets," he added.
India's engineering exports had shot up from $10.84 million in 1956-57 to $1 billion in 2003-04. "Our participation at the Steelfab is aimed at further intensifying the reach of Indian engineering products in the West Asian region," said Mr Ganesan.
The council has a membership of nearly 12,000 companies.
SteelFab is organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
