New Sahyadri to make steel doors with Korean tie-up

Pune , Dec. 11

THE Rs 125-crore New Sahyadri Industries Ltd, manufacturer of cement roofing sheets, will invest Rs 25-30 crore to set up a manufacturing plant to produce galvanised steel anti-theft doors in collaboration with a South Korean firm.

The company has already commenced import and sale of these doors and has sold over 1,200 units under the Entasafe brand, Mr Praveen Rai, President, told newspersons here.

"The need for good doors has been long pending in India, where people spend on doing up every part of their house but neglect both the safety and aesthetics part of the front door," Mr Rai said. Entasafe doors will be available in a variety of shades with wood texturing, complete with high security locks, built-in eye viewers, calling bells and a steel frame. The doors, made to be anti-shrink or warp, are easy to install and comes with keys that cannot be duplicated, he added.

"With stiff competition in the construction industry, builders are competing to provide value-added accessories with the apartments and our product fits into the need of these new apartment complexes," Mr Rai said, pointing out that at least three to four Pune-based construction companies have already made purchases.

New Sahyadri is now in the process of setting up a dealer network and plans to have 250 dealers in the first phase of their operations. The proposed plant, meanwhile, will be set up near Pune once the sales reach a critical volume of 200 units per day, Mr Rai said.
