CII organising meet on pumps tomorrow

Coimbatore , Dec. 7

THE Confederation of Indian Industry in association with the Indian Pump Manufacturers' Association and the Southern India Engineering Manufacturers' Association is organising a two-day `National conference on pumps' with a special focus on advancements in pump manufacturing on December 9 and 10 at The Residency.

The organisers said that this would be the first conference on `pumps' in the country. `Since more than 50 per cent of the country's agricultural and domestic pump sets requirement is being sourced from Coimbatore, we thought it fit to conduct the workshop here,' the CII (Coimbatore Zone) Chairperson, Ms Nandini Rangaswamy, said.

Mr Jayakumar Ramdass, Vice-Chairman, CII (Coimbatore zone), said the proposed workshop would enable the pump manufacturers here to diversify and look to making industrial pumps.

`The market for industrial and process pumps is growing at a rapid pace. The units that are into making of agricultural and domestic pumps have been sceptical about foraying into this space.

`The proposed workshop would enable these manufacturers to look at the latest developments in the pump manufacturing industry,' he said.
