Infrastructure Peenya industrial units keen to upgrade, tap global business Our Bureau
Bangalore , Dec. 7 THE North Bangalore Industries Association (NBIA), which represents the medium and large manufacturing units located in the Peenya industrial area, plans to set up an exclusive CEOs' conclave to help the industry gear up to face global challenges. The immediate concern relates to upgrading infrastructure facilities and broadband connectivity, and establish international conferencing facilities to attract global business. This is part of the NBIA's future plans to prepare itself for global opportunities, even as India is emerging as an outsourcing hub for major international manufacturing companies. Besides, the country's rapid economic growth has also put pressure on the industrial units to prepare themselves for domestic opportunities. At a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr Arun Mote, President of NBIA, said the association has also decided to join hands with the Peenya Industries Association and the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) in the efforts to upgrade infrastructure in and around the industrial area. NBIA would support the IMTMA's Peenya Industries Corridor Upgradation Project, a special purpose vehicle for the Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme. The project is funded by the State and Central Governments while member industries also contributed towards the cost of the Rs 27-crore project. The association is keen on synergising the strengths of all industry bodies and attract the Government's attention to the need for faster implementation of infrastructure projects. It also supported public-private partnership and has already taken steps to provide facilities for the industrial workers.
