Human Resources Info-Tech - Software BMC Software India to expand, hire more Our Bureau
Pune , Dec. 5 BMC Software Inc, the provider of enterprise systems management, has announced that it is gearing up to significantly expand its Indian operations based out of Pune. It is all set to more than double its headcount from 600 to 1,500 in the next few years, Mr Robert E. Beauchamp, President and CEO, told the press here. BMC Software India is one of the company's key operations and has architects involved in a range of complete product development work, according to Mr Beauchamp. The India operations also support a large percentage of global R&D work, he added. The Texas-based company is at the forefront of one of the most important evolving businesses in the IT space - Business Service Management and its clients include companies such as Dell Computers. The Indian operations will help the company grow in this segment.A team here is developing a key component, Integrated Auto Discovery Systems, Mr Beauchamp said. BMC will increase its presence in India aggressively. "We want to sell more in India. We have grown at over 80 per cent in the last two years ," said Mr Beauchamp. The company will achieve growth in sales by enabling its partners in India, according to Mr Nitin Deshpande, President and CEO, BMC Software India. BMC's products are being used by the financial sector, the telecom space and by the government. One of its major clients is the outsourcing industry, which chiefly uses its help desk solution. The company, which tied up with Symphony, a Pune-based company a couple of months ago, will outsource product development to the latter in certain areas. Symphony will also maintain BMC's legacy business unit, according to Mr Deshpande who said the arrangement was on a revenue-sharing basis. BMC Software India will also handle a part of the back- office operations of the parent company, according to Mr Beauchamp who said accounts, HR and marketing, among other functions, would be handled partly in Pune.
