Kochi , Dec. 4

DISEASES caused by lifestyles, application of biotechnology in ayurveda and effects of rasayana therapy will be the main themes of the Global Ayurveda Summit to be held in Thrissur during December 9 to 11, its organisers have said.

Nearly 1,000 delegates, including experts from Britain, Russia, South Korea, Italy, Brazil and Sri Lanka, are expected to participate in the summit, organised by Vaidyaratnam Group, a leading ayurveda institution in Kerala.

The summit is being organised as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Ashtavaidyan Padmasri E.T. Neelakandhan Mooss, the founder of the group.

"We have already received confirmation from 30 ayurveda colleges in the country. We are still receiving confirmation letters from various parts of the country and we expect the final figure to cross 1,000 delegates," said Dr E.T. Neelakandhan Mooss (grandson of Ashtavaidyan) at a press conference.

The summit's three sessions on diseases caused by lifestyle, application of biotechnology in ayurveda and rasayana therapy will have presentations from experts in these areas, he said. The sessions will also have participation from leading doctors from non-ayurvedic system of medicines.

Manufacturers of ayurveda medicines are also taking part in the summit, which will have a parallel exhibition at the Thekkinkad Grounds.
