Tea Tea prices up in Kochi sale Our Bureau
Kochi , Dec. 2 A GOOD general demand resulted in the spurting of prices of almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 12,28,000 kg on offer in the dust category, best CTCs at high priced levels were steady following quality. Medium and bottom CTCs were dearer by Re 1 to Rs 2. Highgrown orthodox were dearer, while mediums were easier. The figures available with Forbes, Ewart and Figgis Pvt Ltd, said that the best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 52-67, medium CTC realised Rs 44-50 and below medium were quoted at Rs 25-32. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 65-117, while medium BOPD realised Rs 33-38. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 22-26. The leaf sale also witnessed a good general demand and the quantity on offer was 4,32,000 kg. Medium orthodox remained steady, while highgrowns were irregular. CTCs were dearer by Re 1 to Rs 2. Exporters to Iraq were fairly active on medium orthodox. CIS exporters were selective. Smaller CTCm CTC leaf were quoted at Rs 35-37. In the dust category, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 117 followed by both Pasuparai FD and Parkside Cl BOPD by Rs 78 each. In the leaf varieties, Chamraj OP realised the best prices of Rs 105.20 followed by Havukal OP by Rs 100.
