HLL tea unit demerger okayed

MUMBAI: Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) has informed the BSE that the Bombay High Court has approved the demerger and transfer of tea divisions of Assam and Tamil Nadu of the company to Doom Dooma Tea Company Ltd and Tea Estates India Ltd respectively.

The company said the order has been filed with the Registrar of Companies, Maharashtra, on December 1, 2005, with retrospective effect from the appointed date of April 1, 2005.

Shares of HLL moved up by Rs 3.35 to Rs 185.30 on the BSE on Thursday.
