Kerala Horticultural Corporation distributes vegetable stocks

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Horticultural Corporation distributed 100 tonnes of vegetables through its outlets in the Capital on Thursday to bring down the prices that spiralled after supplies were badly hit by floods in Tamil Nadu.

The sales were carried out through 40 retail outlets of the corporation and four mobile vends. The latter stopped at major junctions in the city for varying periods.

An official spokesman said here that more number of mobile vends will be deployed, if need be. There are also plans to conduct open market auctions for the purpose. It has been decided that 100 tonnes of vegetables will be sold in this manner on daily basis till prices come down.
